Black Seal "seals the deal" in the Final Race in Key West

The Cape 31 USA Winter Series kicked off with a thrilling start as the Southernmost Regatta in Key West set the stage for a week of exhilarating racing in the turquoise waters at the southernmost tip of the United States.



The event witnessed fierce competition among a diverse field of teams, many of whom were new to the boat.The penultimate day of the regatta proved to be a nail-biter, with all boats in the fleet tying on points, highlighting the level of competition.


Richard Thompson's Black Seal emerged victorious on count back, securing a narrow but well-deserved victory over Drew Freides' 'Pacific Yankee.' The podium was completed by Bobby Julien's 'Dingbat,' a team that showcased exceptional performance despite having launched their new boat just two days before the event.



Every participating boat in the regatta secured at least one race win. A special mention goes to John Cooper and his Corinthian Cool Breeze team for their outstanding performance throughout the week.


The Southernmost Regatta in Key West proved to be a thrilling spectacle for both participants and spectators alike, with the Cape 31 USA Winter Series off to an exciting start. Next up in the series is February Fort Lauderdale events before the circuit kicks off in Newport in the summer.
