The Cape 31s made a powerful statement at the Safe Harbor Race Weekend, securing both the first and second positions in the highly competitive ORC-C Class, ahead of some aspiring ORC Worlds contenders.
The event, held over the weekend, featured nine teams battling it out on the water, but it was Drew Freides' Pacific Yankee that emerged victorious, claiming the top spot in the class.
Close behind was Chris Sheehan's Warrior Won, which secured the second position, underscoring the Cape 31's dominance in the fleet. Both teams demonstrated exceptional skill and teamwork, navigating a mix of conditions to stay ahead of the competition. The around the Around the Island Race was a highlight with some epic conditions for the teams to play in!
Sixth in class was Squirt, chartered by Trevor Nelson and racing under the name Katahdin. The team put in a strong performance despite having to retire from race 1 - especially being their first time in the boat.
The Cape 31's impressive showing at the Safe Harbor Race Weekend is a testament to the design's speed, agility, and competitive edge, making it a standout in the ORC Class.
