The highly competitive Cape 31 Race Circuits have crowned their champions for 2024, with Shotgunn securing victory in the Cape 31 Mediterranean Circuit and Khumbu Red reigning supreme in the UK Circuit.
Shotgunn’s Mediterranean Glory
After a season marked by intense rivalries, across awesome venues of Monaco, St Tropez, Hyeres, Porquerolles, Imperia and Sanremo, Shotgunn emerged as the champion of the Cape 31 Med Circuit. Following their 2023 victory over the UK circuit the team demonstrated their dominance in the class, mastering the Mediterranean’s dynamic winds and demanding courses. Their victory is a testament to their dedication, cohesion, and commitment to the class, setting a high bar for the competition.
Hot on their heels was Adrien and Robin Follin’s Give Me Five, who secured a well-earned second place in the Med Circuit standings. With a combination of resilience and tactical precision, they consistently challenged the frontrunners throughout the season. Rounding out the podium was Black Battalion, whose strong performance highlighted their potential as one of the class's top competitors.
Speaking about the triumph, Shotgunn’s Michael Wilson, said:"It’s been really good to come to the MED this season, all of the venues have been brilliant. All of the locations we sailed at I’ve not sailed at before so we’ve ticked a lot of boxes. We’ve had a lot of different conditions. It been fabulous."
Khumbu Red Dominates the UK Circuit
Meanwhile, across the Channel, Khumbu Red, owned by Christian and Jacintha Hamilton Love, asserted their dominance in the Cape 31 UK Circuit. Racing against some of the best sailors in the region, the team delivered consistent top-tier performances winning Round 2, 3 and 5, securing their place at the top of the leaderboard.
They were closely followed by Nick and Cara Phillip’s Chaotic, who claimed second place after a thrilling season of 5 our of 6 podium finished and a very close second at the National Championships. The battle for the third spot saw Flying Jenny rise to the occasion, following this National Championship win they demonstrated grit and determination to secure their place on the overall podium.
A Global Showcase of Cape 31 Excellence
The Cape 31 class continues to grow as one of the most exciting platforms in international sailing, drawing top-tier sailors and showcasing these awesome boats. This season highlighted the universal appeal of the class, from the Mediterranean’s sparkling waters to the UK’s dynamic racing conditions.
Both Shotgunn and Khumbu Red exemplify the spirit of the Cape 31. Their victories not only celebrate their achievements but also underline the class's reputation for delivering thrilling and competitive sailing.

Looking Ahead
As the 2024 season comes to a close following an epic European Championship in Sanremo in early November, the Cape 31 Class in the Northern Hemisphere looks forward to 2025, with new teams entering the fray and established names vying to defend their titles. The Summer in South Series kicks off in just 10 days with several MED teams travelling down to Cape Town for the fun!
