Coming from his Mills 43 into a brand new Mills designed boat, John Cooper is one of the newest owners in the Cape 31 fleet.
Over the years John Cooper grew up sailing on a J/29 that his dad bought in 1983 and has been in many different boats since then from J/22's to the Cape 31! Picking up several big trophies over the years, particularly on his Mills 43, the Cape 31 Class are excited to have John and his team on the start line.
John is proud to have always had very Corinthian based teams, whilst himself being a very good helmsman. "We don’t pay anyone to go sailing. Nobody is paid, period, unless you’re fixing or sanding something." The Cool Breeze program has always had a good nucleus of guys that love coming sailing with us. They’re not getting paid. They’re just getting fed well.
Having just been delivered, Cape 31 Cool Breeze competed in it's first regatta at the in Key West this last week, winning the final race which shows how much the team learnt over those few days. John and team are looking forward to getting to know that Cape 31 and racing throughout the season on the East Coast.
Fun fact: John and team are as keen foodies are they are sailors, find them to scope out the best food in town.
